Young New Yorkers Chorus Seeking Singers for Spring 2022

The Young New Yorkers’ Chorus is very excited to announce auditions for its Spring 2022 season.

Currently in its 21st (Mixed) & 10th (Treble) seasons, the Young New Yorkers’ Chorus (YNYC) brings together the finest choral musicians from the thousands of young people in their 20s and 30s who flock to the city for its excitement and artistic life. YNYC’s two ensembles perform for a large and devoted youthful audience, exposing them to the beauty and transcendent potential of choral art. The choir performs a vast variety of music, from works by classical greats to those of prominent living composers in New York’s leading venues, such as Carnegie Hall and BAM. YNYC performed at the American Choral Directors Association National Conference at Symphony Hall in Chicago, cementing the choir’s emerging reputation as one of the finest choral ensembles in the country. YNYC has been featured in the film “Catechism Cataclysm,” on WNYC’s RadioLab, the New York Public Library’s Library After Hours Program, the World Fashion Parade, TBS’ hit show “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee,” and as a featured performer for iHeartRadio. The choir is deeply committed to new music and debuts a minimum of three original works every year through its annual Competition for Young Composers.

YNYC is a volunteer choral organization – they are looking for incredible singers who love the energy and synergy of singing with an ensemble to join their choral community!

If you are interested in joining YNYC, please visit their website at http://ynyc.org/auditions and fill out the form. Submissions are due no later than 11:59pm on Wednesday, December 22nd. If you’re invited to audition, they will be in contact the week of December 27th. Please note that if you’re invited to audition, you will need to provide proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 before the audition panel hears you. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Those invited for an in-person audition will be assessed further on their skill level through vocalization, musicianship exercises, and sight reading, and may be asked to present a short excerpt of a song of their choice (either a cappella or with piano accompaniment – an accompanist will be provided).

If you have any questions regarding the audition process or the Young New Yorkers’ Chorus, please visit our website at ynyc.org, or contact us at info@ynyc.org.
