Production and casting is currently underway for the upcoming Sony Pictures feature film SNL 1975. According to Deadline, SNL 1975 is the true story of what happened behind the scenes that night in the moments leading up to the first broadcast of NBC’s SNL. It depicts the chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, counting down the minutes in real time to the infamous words, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!”
Set to star so far are Ella Hunt, Emily Fairn, Gabriel Labelle and Kim Matula. Hunt will play Gilda Radner, Fairn will play Laraine Newman, Matula will play Jane Curtin and Gabriel Labelle will play a young Lorne Michaels. Jason Reitman will direct. The original screenplay is by Reitman and Gil Kenan. The screenplay is based on an extensive series of interviews conducted by Reitman and Kenan with all the living cast members, writers and crew.
Filming is set to begin in and around the Atlanta, GA area with the Majority will be down in Fayetteville, GA beginning in March through the end of April. The casting is seeking core backround, background and standins for the film. All roles will be paid.
