A casting call has gone out seeking talent to work on the upcoming Amazon thriller series Utopia. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the nine-episode thriller, which Amazon ordered straight to series, is a remake of a British show that aired in 2013-14. Set to star in the series are Sasha Lane, Rainn Wilson, Ashleigh LaThrop, Desmin Borges, Farrah Mackenzie and Christopher Denham. Utopia centers on a group of young adults who meet online are mercilessly hunted by a shadowy deep state organization after they come into possession of a near-mythical cult underground graphic novel. They discover the conspiracy theories in the comic’s pages may actually be real and are forced into the dangerous, unique and ironic position of saving the world. Gone Girl and Sharp Objects writer Gillian Flynn will serve as creator and showrunner.
Filming of the series is taking place in the Chicago and Hoffman Estates, Ill areas beginning the final week of April through September 23rd 2019. The casting director is seeking various talent to work on the series as paid background talent, extras, photo doubles and standins. At the present time they are currently seeking the following:
- MILITARY TYPES – Male/Female, Any Ethnicity, Age 18 – 40. We are looking for military looks – please only submit if you currently are clean shaven or willing to shave and if you are male – you must have a military style haircut. If you have facial hair – you must be willing to shave if selected. Please confirm the style haircut and facial hair in your email submission and if you are willing to be clean shaven. - POLICE TROOPERS – Male/Female, Any Ethnicity, Age 21 – 55. Please only submit if you are clean shaven or willing to be clean shaven and have a clean cut hair cut. Women must be able to put their hair up in a bun or twist. FITTING DATES: THURS., 5/30 OR FRI., 5/31. Works 6/5 – DAY SHOOT, 6/6 – OVERNIGHT SHOOT, 6/7 – OVERNIGHT SHOOT in Bloomingdale.
- MOURNERS – Seeking Males, Any Ethnicity, Ages 18-30. If you are submitting with your car – you must be available both dates due to continuity. Please list the year, make, model, color of your car in your email submission. Works MON., 5/13 & TUES., 5/14 in Worth, IL.
- COLLEGE STUDENTS – Seeking Male/Female, Caucasian/Asian/Indian ethnicity, Ages: 18-25. Works 5/15 in Chicago.
- CDC EMPLOYEES – Seeking Male/Female, Hispanic, African American, Asian, Ages: 21-40. Works 5/8. You will have to be comfortable wearing a Hazmat suit that will cover your full body and face, glasses, and latex gloves. Please do not submit if you are allergic to latex, claustrophobic, or sensitive to heat. This may be a re-occurring core extra role – so please let us know if you have open availability. Your clothing measurements must be updated on POP.

1) Confirm you have a POP Profile
2) Include the following information: Name, phone, email.
3) You must go into your POP Profile via a computer, and upload the THREE requested photos – put them in the following slots; CURRENT LOOK: FRONT (FACE) AND BODY ALTERNATIVE (FULL BODY SHOT), YOUR PET (YOUR DOG). The photos should be selfies in good lighting with a neutral background, no filters, no hats, no sunglasses.
CONFIRM you have uploaded the THREE requested photos in your POP profile. Upload before you submit. Also, include one photo of yourself in the submission so we have a quick reference.
4) Confirm your sizes are up to date on pop
5) Confirm you are available the date you are submitting for
6) Confirm you have transportation to get to the specific location. (Please be specific and let us know if you do not.)
7) Confirm your pet is up to date on all shots.
8) Confirm you are not allergic to dogs.
