An open casting call has been scheduled for the upcoming feature film project currently titled You Are My Friend, starring Tom Hanks as Mr. Fred Rogers. The film which is slated to begin filming in September in Pittsburgh, PA is actually not a biopic, but is based on a screenplay written by Emmy-nominated Transparent producers Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster. The story follows the life of Tom Junod who forged an emotional bond with the Mister Rogers Neighborhood star while profiling him for Esquire Magazine in 1998.
A casting call has gone out for the film seeking people of all ages, from infants to adults, all ethnicities, to play paid extras. No experience necessary.
Time & Date: August 25th 2018 9:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M
Where: David L. Lawrence Convention Center, 1000 Fort Duquesne Blvd located in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.
Extras will be cast for various scenes in the movie — as New York and Pittsburgh pedestrians, ballroom party guests, journalists, business types, wedding guests, bar and restaurant patrons, hospital staff, and audience members. Please bring proper identification with you and come ready to have your picture taken. Because the film is based on an article written for Esquire in 1998, those interested are asked to come dressed in 1990s attire, although it’s not a prerequisite for being cast.
You Are My Friend is scheduled for October 2019 release.
