An open casting call has gone out seeking men, women and children to work as background and possible featured talent on the upcoming Amazon Studios film, Troupe Zero. Set to star are Academy Award winner Viola Davis, McKenna Grace, Allison Janney and Jim Gaffigan. According to Variety, Lucy Alibar wrote the screenplay though plot details remain unknown, except that this is a fun, film that centers around a group of delightful misfits! . Amazon Studios is financing the film, with Fences producer Todd Black producing. Filming will take place in several locations in Louisiana, primarily on the North Shore (Pontchtoula, Madisonville, Lutcher, LaPlace, and the West Bank).
The casting director is specifically seeking the following to work on the film in paid background extra positions as well as possible featured talent:
- WIGGLY FOLKS – Currently casting men and women (18 + years, any ethnicity) to work in Lutcher, LA on Monday, June 11th and June 12th as residents of Wiggly Town! Works 6/11.
- ELDERLY CHURCH LADIES – Currently casting 60’s-80’s looking women (18+ years old, any ethnicity) to portray church ladies at the annual Girls Scouts style jamboree! This is a four-day work assignment. Friday June 1st, Saturday June 2nd, Tuesday June 5th, and Wednesday June 6th in Madisonville, Louisiana.
- SIBLINGS – Currently casting high school age – 20’s looking men and women (18+ years old, any ethnicity) to portray siblings at an annual Girl Scouts style jamboree! This is a four-day work assignment. Friday June 1st, Saturday June 2nd, Tuesday June 5th, and Wednesday June 6th in Madisonville, Louisiana.
- JUDGES – Currently casting 20’s-50’s looking women (18+ years old, any ethnicity) to portray Judges judging the performance groups at the annual Girls Scouts style jamboree! This is a four-day work assignment. Friday June 1st, Saturday June 2nd, Tuesday June 5th, and Wednesday June 6th in Madisonville, Louisiana.
- SCOUTS – Currently casting young girls (8-13 years old, any ethnicity) to portray girls at a FUN scout jamboree. Works 6/1 & 6/2
- TALENT GROUP – Currently casting young girls (8-13 years old, any ethnicity) with unique talents to perform at a talent show. You MUST submit a routine together in groups of 3-5! You MUST submit a group video for consideration! Talents do not have to be perfected, just quirky! Can you and your friends cheer or twirl batons? Can you and your friends do a silent mime or tumbling routine? Can you and your friends do a karate or jump rope routine? Get together, make a video, and SUBMIT! They’ll consider all of your cool talents!
- SMOKING MOM – Currently casting 20s to 40s woman (18 y/o and older, ANY ETHNICITY) to portray downscale trailer park woman smoking a cigarette (herbal). Work date TBD. Will film in Pontchatoula, Louisiana.
- JAMBOREE – Currently casting girls (8-12 y/o, all ethnicities) to portray elementary school students at a fun jamboree in the 1970’s! Works 6/1 & 6/2
Please keep in mind that this is a period piece set in the 1970s: unnatural hair color, ultra-modern haircuts, modern piercings and visible tattoos on hands, face, and neck will NOT be considered!
