SEEKING
- [CHARLIE PRICE] Male, late 20s – early 30s, Caucasian. Just out of university, a really nice guy who has no clue what to do with the rest of his life. He’s handsome, lovable, but there’s a temper right under the skin. Henpecked by his girlfriend and a little lost. Must have a great rock belt to a Bb.
- [LOLA/SIMON] Male, early 30’s, African-American. An emotionally and physically challenging role requires the body of a boxer, with the soul of a Diva to play this scene-stealing drag performer. Must have a killer voice with power blues and gospel chops. Sings to a Bb. Lola dances in very high heels and so must move well. This role calls for a STAR. This is the Tony Award Winning role originated by actor Billy Porter.
- [LAUREN] Female, 20s, any ethnicity. Beautiful working class girl, who is funny, smart, practical and focused, but has had bad luck with men. Must have a pop voice with belt and comedic chops.
- [NICOLA] Female, 20s, Caucasian. Charlie’s girlfriend since school. Steel willed, she is driven and uncompromising. She knows what she wants and goes for it. Must have a great pop voice.
- [DON] Male, 30s – 40s, Caucasian. Lola’s nemesis. Burly hyper-masculine bear of a factory worker. Must have a strong pop/rock voice.
- [GEORGE] Male, 40s-50s, Caucasian. Factory manager keeping up traditions. Reserved.
- [PAT] Female, 30s, any ethnicity. Officious office manager who will let loose her wild side when allowed. Lola’s love interest. Must have a great pop belt.
- [TRISH] Female, 40s, any ethnicity. Factory worker with a husband and kids to worry over.
- [ANGELS] Males, 20s – 30s, any ethnicity, 5’8” or taller. These are the six drag performers who populate THE BLUE ANGEL NIGHTCLUB. They need to be versatile, but also terrific dancers, singers and actors. This ain’t a job for no wall-flowers. Tumbling, acro and tricks a plus. Will be required to dance in heels. May cover principal roles. Especially seeking strong tenors and tumblers.
- [MALE ENSEMBLE] Males, 20s – 40s, any ethnicity. All must at least move well and have great pop voices. To appear in the ensemble and play various roles, including:
- [HARRY] Male, 20s – 30s, any ethnicity. A contemporary of Charlie’s but his opposite. Harry is successful, self-aware and confident. Also plays a delivery man, factory worker, photographer, etc. Must have a good voice. May understudy CHARLIE.
- [MISTER PRICE] Male, 50s, Caucasian. Charlie’s father and owner of the shoe factory in the opening and closing sequences. Also plays a pub patron, factory worker, etc for the rest of the show. Must have a good voice.
- [RICHARD BAILEY] Male, 30s-40s, any ethnicity. Nicola’s boss. An overtly attractive and successful man. A real threat to Charlie. One of the hooligans, factory workers, etc. Must have a good voice. May cover principal roles. May understudy CHARLIE.
- [SIMON SR] Male to play 40s-50s, African-American. Lola’s father. An unforgiving tower of anger. He works in the opening, and two scenes in act two. Otherwise he will play the homeless man, a factory worker, etc. Must have a good voice. May cover principal roles.
