Actor Omari Hardwick has signed on to join the cast of the upcoming Netflix deadly thriller The Mother which stars Jennifer Lopez. The story follows a deadly assassin (Lopez) as she comes out of hiding to protect her daughter (Lucy Paez) that she gave up years ago. Hardwick will play an FBI agent ally to Lopez’s character in the film. Also set to star are Joseph Fiennes, Lucy Paez, Gael Garcia Bernal and Paul Raci.
“The Mother” will be directed by Niki Caro, known for Disney’s “Mulan” remake, “The Zookeeper’s Wife” and “Whale Rider.” “Lovecraft Country” showrunner Misha Green is writing the screenplay, with current revisions by Peter Craig.
The film is written by Misha Green (Lovecraft Country) with revisions by Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton). Lopez will also be serving as a producer along with Elaine Goldsmith Thomas through their Nuyorican Productions. Green and Benny Medina are also set as producers along with Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon. Catherine Hagedorn has also boarded the project as an executive producer and Courtney Baxter will serve as an associate producer.
