Production is set to get underway shortly on the upcoming Warner Bros. adaptation of the Stephen King novel Doctor Sleep, the sequel to the horror classic The Shining. Set to star are Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and Zahn McClarnon. The story begins as Torrance carries the trauma of the Overlook Hotel into adulthood. He’s become a reflection of his murderous father, with a drinking problem that dulls his pain as well as his “shining” powers. Those abilities return when he embraces sobriety and uses his gift to help those dying at a hospice. He establishes a psychic connection with a young girl who shares his extreme skills, and who is being targeted by a group with similar abilities. They’ve found that their powers grow if they inhale the “steam” that comes off others, who have the power to shine, when they’re suffering painful deaths.
Filming is set to take place in the Atlanta, GA area beginning September through December 2018. The extras casting director is seeking local men and women to work as paid background talent, stand-ins, photo doubles and in possible featured roles on the film. At the present time they are currently seeking the following:
- PHOTO DOUBLES – Seeking special PHOTODOUBLES for a supporting character (child actor) – one for make-up tests within the week, and one must be an excellent baseball player for mid -October. Must be MALE/BOY, CAUCASIAN, AGE is open but MUST be in the height range of 4’5″ to 4’9″. Average build – approx 50 to 70 lbs, in proportion to the height. HAIR COLOR and LENGTH IS OPEN, as they can WIG if necessary. If you are good at playing baseball this helps. Experience is a plus but not mandatory, however, a well behaved boy who is not shy IS required!! Please put “DOUBLE BOY” in the email subject line.
- STAND-INS – Seeking MALE & FEMALE stand-ins for various work for supporting characters. Ages 18 to 70. ALL VARIOUS HEIGHTS and sizes, ranging from a few KID standins (adults for that) to average height, etc… Particularly Need one TALL Caucasian Male Standin (7’0″) EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Stand-in experience, or if you have never been a stand-in before, you must at least have some set experience (as an extra) or theater experience. Works 9/24 through 11/30. Pay rate: $154 for 12 hrs with O/T after that on each work day. Please put “UPDATED STANDINS” in the email subject line.
