Production is currently underway on the upcoming HBO pilot drama horror series, Lovecraft Country. The series is produced by Monkeypaw Productions, Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television with executive producers including Jordan Peele, Misha Green, J.J Abrams and Ben Stephenson. Set to star are Jonathan Majors, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Wunmi Mosaku, Aujanue Ellis and Elizabeth Dickie. The story follows “Atticus Black (Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.
Filming is set to get started this month and will continue through late August in Chicago, Ill suburb areas. The casting director is currently seeking the following to work on the series as paid background extras, stand-ins, photo doubles and possible featured talent.
- KIDS IN LINE – Seeking Female/Male, African American, Caucasian, Ages 1 to 15 (TEENS 16 -17). Works 8/27. Wardrobe fitting 8/15 OR THU., 8/16.
- TEENS PLAYING STICK BALL (BASEBALL WITH A STICK) – Seeking Female/Male, African Americans, Ages 16-18 to LOOK 16 or younger. Works 7/23, 7/24, 8/9, 8/10 (8/9 – 8/10 WILL BE FILMING OVERNIGHT). Must be available for fitting 7/20.
- NEIGHBORHOOD TYPES – Seeking African American, Male/Female, Ages 16 – 80. Works 7/23, 7/24, 8/8 AND 8/9 AND 8/10. The last two dates will be overnight.
- PEDESTRIAN TYPES – Seeking Caucasian, Male/Female, Ages 18 – 80. Works in the Elburn area on 7/25 AND 7/26.
- GAS STATION ATTENDANT – Seeking Caucasian, Male/Female, Age 25 – 45. Works 8/7.
- BLOCK PARTY ATTENDEES – Seeking African American, Male/Female, Ages 16 – 80. Works 8/9 & 8/10.
- CHURCH LADIES – Seeking African American, Female, Ages 55 – 80. Works 8/9 & 8/10.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: Every person must attend a wardrobe fitting. No exceptions. The scenes are set in the summer, and therefore because of the clothing will reveal more skin, no visible tattoos. If you have small tattoos that you can sufficiently cover-up with your own make-up,They can still consider you, but you must give us a brief description of the tattoo, and where it is located.
They don’t have all the sizes from wardrobe yet, and there may be a few exceptions, but generally speaking, they’ll likely not be able to fit women over size 12 and men over a 36″ waist and 42″ jacket.
Hair is an important factor – no color, no wigs, no weaves – natural hair only for the women. No color and no fades for the men. For the most part, every male will have to be cleanly shaven and have hair that is on the short side or Pompadour which was a classic style at the time. Depending on your hairstyle, you may be asked to cut your hair or grow it out. No modern-day piercing such as nose rings and stretched piercings in the ears.
To be considered, EVERYONE must upload a photo with natural hairstyle in the “CURRENT LOOK: BACK” photo slot in POP. The photo should be of your face, not the back of your head. This photo should reflect the natural style that you will arrive with at your wardrobe fitting. It should also reflect that you don’t have visible tattoos or modern piercings, and for the men – cleanly shaven. Photos must be uploaded from your computer, not your phone.
