A casting call has gone out seeking a lead actor for the upcoming FX limited series “American Sports Story”. Ryan Murphy and Color Force is expanding his television footprint once again, with another installment of the “American Crime Story” franchise with a limited series that will focus on former NFL player and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez. According to Deadline, the series will also explore the connections of the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide, and their legacy in sports and American culture.
Stu Zicherman executive produces with Murphy, Jacobson, Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall and Falchuk. Hernan Lopez and Marshall Lewy of Wondery (Dr. Death) executive produce alongside Linda Pizutti Henry and Ira Napoliello of The Boston Globe. The limited series will be produced by 20th Television and FX Productions.
The casting director is seeking a man with an athletic, football player build. This role will require a period of physical training in November, while shooting is scheduled to begin Spring 2023.
- [AARON HERNANDEZ] This character is a Hispanic/Italian male to play ages 18-27. In trying to hide secrets that would ruin an athlete of his stature, Aaron becomes a chameleon who can switch from NFL superstar to adoring father to paranoid murderer. SERIES LEAD.
