Casting Call for TV Series ‘On Becoming A God in Central Florida’

A open casting call has been announced seeking talent for the upcoming dark comedy Youtube series by George Clooney, On Becoming A God in Central Florida. The series stars Kirsten Dunst who will also executive produce.  Written by Robert Funke and Matt Lutsky based on a spec script they wrote, On Becoming A God is set near Orlando in the early 1990s. It centers on Krystal Gill (Dunst), a minimum-wage-earning water park employee who will eventually scheme her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise: the cultish, flag waving, multi-billion dollar pyramid scheme that drove her family to ruin. Back in June, it was announced that Youtube had finalized a deal for 10-episode series order for the one-hour series which hails from George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s   Smokehouse Pictures and Sony’s TriStar Television.

Filming will take place beginning in October and will continue through February 2019 in the New Orleans Louisiana area. The casting director has scheduled an open casting call seeking the following types to work on the series as paid background extras, stand-ins, photo doubles and possible featured talent.

  • CONGREGATION – Currently taking submissions for men and women (18+) who appear to be Hispanic/Latinx to portray a congregation in a church scene. Works 11/15.
  • BELL CHOIR – Currently casting a group of people (18+, any ethnicity) to work with non-verbal interaction with a principal actor. You MUST have experience in a bell ringing choir with your own bells! Works 11/15.
  • LIFEGUARD – Seeking a 18 – 20s looking CERTIFIED lifeguards (any ethnicity) to double duty as lifeguard/water park employee.
    YOU MUST HAVE LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION!! Works 11/6
  • AFRICAN-AMERICAN KIDS & TEENS – Seeking African American looking elementary school – high school age boys and girls (ages 6-19) to portray water park kids. Works 11/5 or 11/6.
  • PRISON VISITORS – Currently casting 20’s-60’s looking people (18+, any ethnicity) to work as family and friends visiting a loved one in prison. Please keep in mind that this is a period piece set in the early 1990’s: unnatural hair color and modern haircuts will NOT be considered! No goatees! Men and Women, longer hair was in fashion! Works 11/2.
