American Idol is back now on ABC and they want you to come out and audition for the 2019-20 season! Exactly sixteen years ago, American Idol hit TV screens for the first time, forever changing the landscape of reality competition programming. The producers of American Idol announced last year that the series would be moving from it’s longtime home at FOX and will now be broadcast from its new home on ABC. The series concluded its original run on FOX after 15 seasons. On On May 13, 2019, American Idol was renewed for an eighteenth season — its third on ABC and will premier in January 2020. On May 19, 2019 the seventeenth season concluded, crowning Laine Hardy winner and Alejandro Aranda runner-up.
Idol judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie will return, while Ryan Seacrest will return as host. They are looking for the next singing superstar and want to hear from YOU!
The nationwide search for the next superstar kicks off on TUESDAY, JULY 23rd 2019 in NYC, as the Idol Bus jumps into gear across America, offering hopefuls the chance to audition for a shot at superstardom. From New Orleans, Miami, Houston, Orlando to Philly, American Idol will search every corner of the nation in its pursuit for talent. Auditioning has never been easier, with the series also taking to the internet, offering hopefuls the opportunity to submit audition videos online.
