Casting Speaking Roles for Indie-Feature ‘The Kindergarten Teacher’

A casting call has gone out for the upcoming PAID, SAG-AFTRA indie-feature film “The Kindergarten Teacher” starring Maggie Gyllenhaal.  Maven Pictures is producing the film, based on Nadav Lapid’s Israeli film of the same name. Producers on the film are Maven Pictures co-founders Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray, Gyllenhaal, and Talia Kleinhendler.  The story centers on a kindergarten teacher who grows more and more numb each day she remains stuck in her mundane Staten Island life. When she discovers what may be a prodigious five-year old poet in her class, she becomes obsessed with the child and his talent — risking her career, family, and freedom.  Filming begins in New York City starting Mid-July and will continue for about 5 weeks or so.

  • The casting director is Seeking soulful, sensitive, intelligent 5 to 6-year-old boys to audition for a lead role of *Jimmy.  Latino preferred, but open to all ethnicities. No acting experience necessary.

They are asking those who are interested in submitting their child to submit a headshot/resume and reel or appropriate self tape (you can even use your smartphone!)  HERE  at the CastItTalent website .

Good Luck!
