Tom Cruise is set to reprise his role as the scrappy driver Cole Trickle in the upcoming sequel Days of Thunder 2. Plot details are being kept lowkey for now, but it was announced today that Anne Hathaway has joined the cast. According to Variety, Hathaway is set to play a racecar team owner and engineer. Jonathan Levine (“Long Shot,” “Mr. Irrelevant”) is confirmed to direct. Cruise is producing alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper.
Cruise revealed the news Saturday on his social platforms featuring a picture of the two A-listers leaning against a NASCAR race car in Daytona.
The post also announced that the film would be released June 2, 2028. The movie will be filmed for Imax and also available in Dolby cinemas, 4DX and premium large-screen formats.
