Actor and standup comedian LaRoyce Hawkins announced he is exiting the long-running NBC drama Chicago P.D. Accordiing to Deadline, Hawkins, who has been with the show since it launched in the role of Officer Kevin Atwater, will depart during the upcoming 14th season. Exactly how his character will exit the series is being kept under wraps, but sources say it will happen in the early part of the season.
In 2014, Hawkins was cast in a main role in the Chicago Fire’s spin-off, Chicago P.D as Officer Kevin Atwater. In 2019, Hawkins began appearing in a recurring role in a second spin-off, Chicago Med. Hawkins has also made appearances in HBO’s Ballers, Starz series Power Book IV: Force and TBS Tyler Perry’s House of Payne.
NBC and a representative for Wolf Entertainment, which produces the One Chicago franchise, declined to comment. His departure was first reported by Deadline, which stated that Hawkins will appear in the first three episodes of Season 14 to wrap up his character’s storyline.
