An open casting call has gone out seeking talent and locals to play general extras on the upcoming third season of the HBO comedy television series The Righteous Gemstones. The series stars Danny McBride who also created the series, John Goodman, Edi Patterson, Adam DeVine, Cassidy Freeman, Tony Cavalero, Tim Baltz and Skylar Gisondo, Jennifer Nettles, Jody Hill, Valyn Hall, Greg Alan Williams, and Eric Roberts. The Righteous Gemstones centers on a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed and charitable work.
On January 25th 2022, it was announced that the series had been renewed for a 3rd season at HBO. The news came as the comedy series was still airing its second season, which aired its season 2 finale back on Feb. 27th.
Production is set to get underway this month in the Charleston, SC area and will take place from Mid June thru Mid December. At the present time the casting director is seeking the following to work on the series as paid extras, possible standins and possible reoccuring featured talent:
- POOL PATRONS – Seeking Men, Women and Children of all ages to portray pool/lobby patrons. Please put “10/4 Zion’s Avail” in email subject line.
- UPSCALE GOERS – Seeking attractive Males and Females ages 20’s -30’s ( maybe early 40’s) to portray Upscale CLUB GOERS. Please put “10/5 CLUB AVAIL.” in email subject line.
- EXTRAS FOR MONSTER TRUCK SHOW – Seeking Adults, Teens and Children for monster truck show and carnival scene filming on Thursday 7/21 & Friday 7/22. This is an all night filming. Please put “MONSTER TRUCK AVAIL” in email subject line.
- MALL SHOPPERS AND STAFF – Seeking Men and Women, Ages 18 -35, to portray mall shoppers and mall staff. Works Tuesday 7/12. Since these scenes take place in their Year 2000 episode, Wardrobe will want to pre fit on 7/11. Please put “7/12 MALL” in email subject line.

They will actually be needing numerous Males with beards this season. Do not send emails saying “I can be a worker” “I want to work on this series” – they will be discarded. PLEASE NOTE: COVID-19 Vaccinations are NOT required for filming on this project. However, all extras filming (vaccinated or non vaccinated) will be required to have a COVID test taken provided by production prior to filming.
