Production is curently underway in Pittsburgh on the upcoming Scott Cooper’s Edgar Allen Poe-inspired Netflix thriller The Pale Blue Eye starring Christian Bale. Based on a 2003 novel by Louis Bayard. The story is set in 1830 and finds a veteran detective (Bale) investigating a gruesome murder at West Point Academy. As an assistant, the detective takes on a young poet with a penchant for drink, the man who will some day come to be known to the world as Edgar Allen Poe. As they work to uncover the mystery, their own friendship soon unravels as Poe delves into his partner’s own dark past.
Bale and Cooper will also both produce the film, as will John Lesher and Cross Creek’s Tyler Thompson. Filming is currently taking place in and around the Pittsburgh, PA area beginning this week through February. The casting director is currently seeking the following to work as standins on the production and paid background as well as possible featured talent:
- AFRICAN-AMERICAN FEMALE – 5’2 – 5’5. Waist 28-32. Bust 34-40. Period costuming requires all women to wear a corset so must be comfortable being in one for an extended period of time. Must have TERRIFIC Availability week-days between Late November-Mid-February to film in various locations near Pittsburgh to work 4-5 days total. In line with the film industry standard for a safe workplace for all personnel, this production will require all performing artists (including background talent) and crew members in the performance zone to be vaccinated, and to provide proof to the Health and Safety Department before their first day of work.
