The Lifetime Network’s most popular reality competition has launches a new virtual version of the series, titled Abby’s Virtual Dance Off. According to Variety, Lifetime and Abby Lee Miller are inviting dancers from across the country to submit their best moves to see who has what it takes to be dubbed “The
Selected videos will then be shown in each episode, with Miller critiquing each self-submitted performance and ultimately Skyping with the winner to reveal whose routine earned her highest accolade. The new 12-episode series will premier this summer.
The guidelines to submit are as follows:
- You must be the dancer’s parent or legal guardian to enter the contest. Dancers must be ages 6-16. Please see the Official Rules below for the full eligibility criteria and contest rules.
- After your dancer creates an original dance to one of the 5 music tracks below, you should submit a video, 60 seconds in length, of your dancer performing their original choreography. The video must be filmed horizontally (in “landscape” mode), showing the dancer in their entirety at all times, from the top of their head to the bottom of their feet. No zoom-ins for close-ups are permitted. You can pan left and right to follow the dancer in the frame.
- Limit one (1) entry per dancer.
- Submissions will be judged in two phases; final judging will be by Abby Lee Miller.
- If your dancer is judged to be a Potential Winner for Dance Moms: Abby’s Virtual Dance Off, you will be notified by phone and/or email by April 29th. If selected, you and your dancer will need to be available for video conference on April 30th.
Creativity is encouraged, whether it comes to fancy footwork or an interesting at-home backdrop. As Lifetime puts it, “a hip-hop routine in the kitchen or a ballet recital in the backyard — anything goes!”
