An open casting call has gone out seeking talent and locals to play general extras on the upcoming second season of the HBO comedy television series The Righteous Gemstones. The series stars Danny McBride who also created the series, John Goodman, Edi Patterson, Adam DeVine, Cassidy Freeman, Tony Cavalero, Tim Baltz and Skylar Gisondo. The Righteous Gemstones centers on a family of televangelists and megachurch pastors led by widowed patriarch Eli Gemstone (John Goodman) and his bickering children.
On July 1, 2019, it was announced that the series would premiere on August 18, 2019. On September 9, 2019, the series was renewed for a second season. Filming is set to begin next week and will take place in and around the Charleston, SC area. The casting director is seeking area locals to play paid extras, standins, photo doubles and possible featured talent on the series as the following:
- 60’S PERIOD SCENE – Seeking African American Women (not larger than size 8-10) , Caucasian Females (not larger than size 8-10) and Caucasian Males (not larger than 36 waist/44 jacket) Ages 18 to 50 for a 1960’s period scene. HAIR should be accurate for the 1960’s era (or be willing to adjust to such). MALES should be clean shaven with short hair. Works 3/13. Must be eligible for fittings on Tues. 3/10 or Wed. 3/11. - MENS OUTREACH GROUP – Seeking Males, Ages 20’s-30’s, all types, all races from the “down on their luck pathetic” types to “dangerous character types” to portray MEN’S Outreach program GROUP. Please put “MEN’S GROUP REQUEST” in your email subject line heading.
- REAL FIREFIGHTERS – Seeking REAL LIFE actual firefighters for filming. Please put “FIREMEN REQUEST” in the email subject line heading.
- MUSCULAR BUILDS – Seeking Males, Ages 25 thru 50’s with very muscular builds and barreled chests. Think body builder. No hair on chest. These are featured extra roles. Must have flexible schedule. May be needed more than one day for filming. Photo to be selected by Director. First film date is 3/16. Please put “MUSCLE MEN REQUEST” in the email subject line.
- AFRICAN-AMERICAN MALES – Seeking African-American Males, Ages 18 to 80 for a 1960’s scene. Must be willing to have their hair and facial hair adjusted to reflect the time period. Basically Short Hair, Clean Shaven..a few may possibly have a very thin mustache. Films Friday 3/13. Will need to attend a wardrobe fitting prior to film date.
