Emmy Award-winning actress Queen Latifah is set to star in the upcoming CBS reboot of the 80’s crime drama television series The Equalizer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project hails from former Castle executive producers Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller and currently has a pilot production commitment at the network. Universal Television and CBS Television Studios are co-producing.
The Equalizer ran from 1985-89 and starred Edward Woodward as a retired intelligence operative who used his skillset to help people out of difficult situations. The series is also the basis for two feature films starring Denzel Washington. The series combined elements of the spy, private investigator, police procedural and vigilante genres.
