A casting call has gone out seeking latino and latina talent to work on the upcoming FOX Pictures feature film reboot, West Side Story. Academy Two-time Academy Award-winner Steven Spielberg will direct.
According to Deadline, fresh faced 17-year old New Jersey High School student Rachel Zegler will make her film debut opposite Ansel Elgort as Tony. Rounding out the principal Shark roles are Broadway veterans Ariana Debose as Anita and David Alvarez as Bernardo. Theater performer Josh Andrés Rivera has been cast as Chino. Spielberg and his team were committed to finding the best actors within the Puerto Rican as well as the broader Latinx community. The team has been conducting research and having conversations with Hispanic heritage and advocacy groups.
Filming is set to begin in June through September 2019. The casting directors over at Grant Wilfley Casting are specifically seeking Latino men and women, 18-30s age range, for Puerto Rican Neighborhood scenes. The film is set in the late 1950s so when applying be sure to submit with a 1950s period look. All roles are paid.

- Seeking REAL Latino and African American boxers to work in a gym scene. Looking for men who are comfortable sparring with a partner or on the bags and have REAL experience. Tentative shoot date of 8/23. Will be fit at TBD date before work date in Brooklyn. Full day availability needed for work date.
